In the Crimean heartland, the longest-lived of the Turkic khanates left an even more enduring landmark, The Khan's Palace; in other words, home to the Crimean Tatars. Raised in the 16th century, Khan’s Palace served as a palace for the representatives of the Giray dynasty. Located in the city of Bakhchisaray, the palace was the political, spiritual, and cultural epicenter of the Crimean Tatars. Above all, n the the Palace has the limestone mountains, pristine forest slopes, and orchards.Khan's Palace is a complex containing majestic mosques, menacing courtrooms, a hidden harem, a fountain of tears, and sorrowful tombs. The earliest dated construction in this ensemble bears the date of 1532, while the written records mention the Palace under 1539.The Palace stretches more than 50000 square meters and consists of 17 buildings and 9 courtyards. So,the overall architectural ambiance of the Palace is a careful amalgam of Middle Eastern and Crimean Tatar tradition. Moreover gardens and a life-giving, sustaining, and purifying supply of water is the focal point of the Palace’s design. The Big Khan Mosque is one of the oldest structures in the Palace, dating back to 1532, in short of the best heritage of cultural tourism. The Mosque is one of the largest in Crimea and bears the name of Sahib I Giray as its commissioner. The entry into the mosque is from a portal facing north. In addition, the mosque is made by Ottoman-designed. The roof, a narthex, and porticos are covering the main prayer hall. From the porticos, rise two minarets to the height of 28 meters.The minarets are octagonal and adorned with conical tops and finials. The lead and glass are decorating the minarets with imitation stones. The walls of the Mosque contain murals; depicting Quranic inscriptions and Islamic symbology. The calligraphic adeptness of these murals is phenomenal and bears a proud testimony to the skills of Persian artists. To sum up, the murals appear in green cartouches on the main façade of the Mosque and add to the charm of wood and plasterwork.
